Skandinavian peninsula has three different climates:
The Norrbotten region has a distinctive inland microclimate, very affected by Eastern winds.
During the winter, some of the coldest temperatures can be met here, locally down to -40º Celsius.
In contrast, the summer temperatures can sometimes be one of the highest in Europe, which is associated with the Russian steppe warmth that streams into the landscape.
Norrbotten owns the warmth record over the entire Norrland (which is more than half of the country), with a whole +37 Celsius. This record was set the 17th of July in 1945, in the minor community of Harads.
